Frequently asked questions

What does a fire hose reel main supply sign indicate?

It marks the location of the main supply for a building's fire hose reel system, so firefighting personnel and maintenance staff can find the primary water source quickly in an emergency.

What sizes are available?

Choose 100mm x 100mm for a compact fixing or 200mm x 200mm for better visibility from a distance.

Which material should I choose for a kitchen or laboratory?

Foam PVC or vinyl composite both cope well with washdown and cleaning regimes; rigid PVC is a lower-cost option for drier internal areas.

How is the sign fixed to the wall?

Self-adhesive vinyl has a high-tack backing for a fast fit, rigid PVC and foam PVC are drilled and screwed, and vinyl composite is also available with horizontal or vertical channel fixing for posts and barriers.

Does the photoluminescent version need a power supply?

No - it absorbs ambient light during the day and stays visible if the power or lighting fails, with nothing to wire in.

Can this sign be mounted on a barrier or gate?

Yes, the vinyl composite variant with channel fixing is designed for that, whether the barrier arm runs horizontally or the post is vertical.

Does this sign meet UK fire safety requirements?

Yes, it conforms with current UK and EU legislation covering fire safety signage.
