What screeds and strikers do

Screeds and strikers level and finish wet concrete to a consistent, uniform surface. They are used on large pours such as car parks, industrial floors and runways, and on smaller work including driveways and footpaths. Compared with hand tamping they cut the time and the labour on a pour.

Vibrating screeds and beam lengths

The Fairport concrete screeder is powered by a Honda GX35 engine and is supplied with beam lengths of 1.2, 1.8, 2.4, 3, 3.6, 4.2 and 4.8 metres. The Double Beam Super Screeder runs a Honda GX160 petrol engine and is also available in several beam lengths.

Beam length is the working width of the screed. Match it to the width of the pour: a beam that spans the bay in one pass gives the most consistent finish, while a shorter beam is easier to handle in confined areas and on smaller slabs.

Roller striker tubes

Roller strikers use a rotating tube to level the pour. Bunyan and Errut tubes are stocked in 3.2, 4.2, 5.2, 6.2, 7.2, 8.2 and 9.2 metre lengths, so the tube can be sized to the bay width the same way as a screed beam.
