Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between this sign and the plain "Automatic fire door keep clear" sign?

This version adds a blue exclamation mark symbol above a separate wording panel, on a rectangular sign. The plain version sets the wording inside a single circular symbol with no separate exclamation mark.

Why does an automatic fire door need to stay clear?

Automatic doors need room to swing or slide open. An obstruction in front of the door can stop it operating correctly, including during a fire evacuation.

What sizes are available?

Three sizes: 150mm x 200mm, 200mm x 300mm and 300mm x 400mm.

Which material should I choose for an exterior automatic door?

Vinyl Composite and Foam PVC are both suited to exterior use and stand up well to weather. Self-Adhesive Vinyl also works outdoors on a smooth, clean surface.

Can it be fixed to a door frame instead of the door itself?

Yes. Any of the materials can be fixed beside the door as well as on it - choose drill-fix or self-adhesive for a frame or adjacent wall.

Does the photoluminescent version work without power?

Yes. It charges from ambient light during the day and stays visible in the dark if the power fails.

Is channel fixing available on every size?

Yes, on the Vinyl Composite option - horizontal or vertical channel fixing is available on all three sizes.
