Frequently asked questions

What does this sign indicate?

It marks the location of the emergency break glass device used to trigger the fire alarm system, so it can be found quickly in an emergency.

Is this the same as a fire alarm call point sign?

It serves a similar purpose but this sign specifically directs people to the break glass unit itself, in the safe condition green and white format rather than a mandatory red design.

What sizes does it come in?

Three sizes: 150mm x 200mm, 200mm x 300mm and 300mm x 400mm, so you can match the sign to how far away it needs to be read from.

Which material is best for my location?

Self-adhesive vinyl and rigid PVC work well on flat, sheltered surfaces indoors. Foam PVC and vinyl composite are more durable for exterior fitting, and photoluminescent PVC adds visibility in the dark.

How is the sign fixed to the wall?

Depending on material, the sign is fixed with self-adhesive backing, drill holes, or a horizontal or vertical channel for mounting to a post or bar.

Does the photoluminescent version need a power source?

No. It charges under normal ambient light during the day and glows on its own if the power goes out.

Can this sign be used outdoors?

Vinyl composite and foam PVC are suitable for outdoor use; self-adhesive vinyl and rigid PVC are better suited to indoor or sheltered locations.
