Frequently asked questions
What does the tick pictogram mean on this sign?
What does the tick pictogram mean on this sign?
The green tick is a safe condition pictogram used on its own, without wording, to confirm that the area, item of equipment or practice it's fixed next to meets the required safety standard.
Why is there no wording on this sign?
Why is there no wording on this sign?
The tick pictogram is designed to be recognised instantly, without needing text - it works as a general safety-compliance marker rather than a location-specific sign like an exit or assembly point sign.
What size should I choose?
What size should I choose?
100mm x 100mm suits a compact fixing point, such as beside a piece of equipment. 200mm x 200mm is easier to read from further away, for example across a corridor or open room.
How is the sign fixed in place?
How is the sign fixed in place?
Self-adhesive vinyl fixes with a hi-tack backing. Rigid PVC, foam PVC, photoluminescent PVC and vinyl composite fix with 4 x 5mm drill holes. The 200mm vinyl composite version is also available with a horizontal or vertical channel for mounting on a post or bar.
Does the sign glow in the dark?
Does the sign glow in the dark?
Only the photoluminescent PVC option does. It absorbs ambient light during the day and releases a visible glow if the power fails, so the tick stays visible in the dark.
Can this sign be fitted outdoors?
Can this sign be fitted outdoors?
Rigid PVC, foam PVC and vinyl composite are all suitable for exterior use as well as indoors. Self-adhesive vinyl also copes outdoors once it's fixed to a smooth, non-porous surface.
What is this sign typically used to confirm?
What is this sign typically used to confirm?
It's commonly fixed near fire safety equipment, hazard areas or working practices to show that they've been checked and meet the relevant safety standard - it isn't tied to a specific location like an exit route or assembly point.
