OLYMPIC CHAPTER 8 BARRIER
The Olympic Chapter 8 Barrier from Melba Swintex is a specialist barrier in their range, featuring a lightweight design that enables a one-man lift due to its HDPE blow moulded construction
The ultra-strong design with its kiss through reinforcements makes for a durable barrier that is perfectly suited to all construction, highway and event sites
Connecting the barriers together is a simple process thanks to the clever S-Clip, barriers can be linked up in linear rows to create any length that you require
The addition of folding side wings is a feature that is unique to the Melba Olympic Road Barrier, with multi directional rotating wings that can be locked in place at 90° angles, creating enclosed areas similar to the UTILITY BARRIER
CHAPTER 8 ROAD BARRIERS
Where can Chapter 8 Road barriers be used?
The Chapter 8 barrier is one of the most versatile barrier safety systems. They are commonly used to direct both pedestrians and vehicles from danger, featuring high visibility reflective strips the road barriers are easily seen in daytime and night time conditions
Do I need Chapter 8 Road barriers?
If you are planning on using your road safety barriers on public highways or live road works then you are legally required to make sure that the pedestrian barriers are chapter 8 compliant
Having several safety feature requirements to be a chapter 8 barrier, the main one is that the barriers must have a reflective strip as shown and supplied with our road barriers
When do I not need Chapter 8 Road barriers?
If you are planning on using your road barriers on private land then they will not need to meet the Chapter 8 requirements, if that is the case and you only require pedestrian barriers you may be interested in crowd control barriers
SAFETY
The Melba Olympic Chapter 8 Road Barrier is fully UK compliant, conforming to the following safety barrier standards:
⊛ Wind stability requirements of BSEN8442
⊛ Reflectivity requirements of BSEN12899-1
⊛ Chapter 8 - The Traffic Signs Manual, Safety at Street Works & Road Works
⊛ Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions
EXTRA STABILITY
If you’re planning on using the Melba Olympic Chapter 8 Road Barriers in areas with high wind speeds, you may want to consider either the Tuff Foot or the Anti-Trip Tuff Foot for additional barrier stability
Manufactured by Melba Swintex both feet designs are double the size of the standard barrier feet, meaning twice the weight with the added stability of a larger footprint
This creates a lower centre of gravity for the road barrier and greater wind resistance
The Anti-Tuff option features one side that is shorter than the other to promote pedestrian and worker safety, without the risk of tripping over a protruding foot
Please contact us if you require more barrier feet options
STACKABLE & TRANSPORTABLE
The Melba Olympic Chapter 8 Road Barrier benefits from a handy foot design that allows a full 360° swivel rotation, ensuring that the road barriers can be laid flat which is perfect for stacking on top of one another
To make sure the safety barriers are safe and secure when being stacked they feature interlocking stacking lugs
With this the barriers can be stacked 40 units in height on an oversized pallet and even higher if they are being stored between uses
