Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between wet and dry diamond core drilling? +

Wet core drilling uses a continuous water supply to cool the diamond bit and suppress dust, making it ideal for hard concrete and reinforced structures. Dry drilling uses vacuum dust extraction and is better suited to brick and block.

What diameters are diamond core drill bits available in? +

Diamond core bits are available from 12mm for cable entries up to 250mm and beyond for larger pipe penetrations and structural cores. The diameter required depends on the pipe or cable being installed.

Can diamond core drills be used on reinforced concrete? +

Yes — diamond-embedded core bits are specifically designed to cut through reinforcing steel bars (rebar) within concrete. Wet drilling is recommended for reinforced applications to maximise bit life.
