Covered Spaces for Every Setting

One frame system, many uses

Almost everything here is built from a common modular frame, and that is what makes the range worth understanding as a system rather than as a list of products.

Bays come in widths from 1m to 6m and depths to suit. Extension bays add length later. The roof and cladding are specified separately from the frame, so the same structure becomes a cycle shelter, a waiting shelter, a bin store, a walkway cover or a smoking shelter depending on how it is finished.

The practical consequence: you are not locked into today's requirement. A shelter bought for cycles can be extended, and a walkway cover uses the same parts as the shelter it runs to.

Roof and cladding choices

• Galvanised steel is the toughest and the cheapest. Opaque, so it darkens the area beneath, which is why it suits bin stores and screening more than places people wait.
• Clear PETG passes daylight and keeps the space bright and visible from outside. Better for anywhere people stand, because a shelter you cannot see into feels unsafe and gets avoided.
• Polycarbonate passes light with high impact resistance, which is what you want where vandalism or falling debris is a risk.

Curved roofs shed water and leaves at the sides and look less institutional; flat and monopitch roofs are simpler and direct water to one edge, which is easier to control where drainage matters.

Canopies and walkway covers

A wall mounted canopy covers a doorway, a pay station, an entry point or a serving hatch without a freestanding structure and without ground fixings.

Walkway covers link two points under cover, which is a straightforward way to make a route usable in all weather, between a car park and a reception, or across a yard. They use the same bays as the shelters, so the run can be built to whatever length is needed.

Waiting and public shelters

Waiting shelters for bus stops, taxi ranks, school gates and pick-up points take an optional bench, in 1000mm and 1500mm lengths.

Two points decide whether a public shelter works. It needs to be visible through, so people waiting can see and be seen, which is why clear cladding is usual. And it needs the open side facing away from the prevailing wind and rain, or it shelters nobody.

Fixing and wind

The standard arrangement is a flanged base anchored down into the surface below it.

A shelter is a large surface in the wind, and the fixings carry that load into the ground. Check the slab thickness and condition and use the anchor specification given rather than whatever is in the van. This is the part that gets skimped and it is the part that matters when a gale arrives.
