Frequently asked questions

What does this sign mean?

The sign shows the standard helmet-and-flame fire fighting equipment pictogram together with a right-pointing arrow, directing people towards the nearest fire fighting equipment such as an extinguisher or hose reel.

What sizes are available?

The sign comes in two sizes, 300mm x 100mm or 450mm x 150mm, so you can pick the size to suit the wall, post or barrier.

Which material should I choose?

Self-adhesive vinyl and rigid PVC suit most flat wall fixings, foam PVC is a lightweight alternative, vinyl composite is a durable waterproof option, and photoluminescent PVC is worth choosing where the sign needs to stay visible if the lights go out.

How do I fix it to a wall or post?

Choose from self-adhesive backing or drill holes for flat surfaces, a horizontal channel for fixing to vertical posts, or a vertical channel for fixing to horizontal bars such as car park barriers or gates.

Is this sign suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, the self-adhesive vinyl, rigid PVC, foam PVC and vinyl composite options are all suitable for interior and exterior use; the self-adhesive vinyl needs a smooth, clean, non-porous surface.

Does the photoluminescent option glow in the dark?

Yes, it is charged by ambient light and illuminates in sudden darkness, which is useful for directing people to fire fighting equipment during a power cut.

Can I get a different arrow direction?

This listing is the right-arrow version. Check the Fire Safety Signs range for left-arrow and straight-ahead versions of the same sign.
