Overview

Galvanised Removable Parking Post (RPP) with Fire Brigade Padlock - Overview

The Galvanised Removable Parking Post with Fire Brigade Padlock lifts out of a lockable ground socket to open up a parking space, driveway or restricted area, then locks back down for security. It takes a Fire Brigade (FB) padlock, so emergency services can remove it with a standard FB key. Manufactured in the UK from galvanised mild steel, it is available in 60mm, 76mm or 90mm diameters.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Fire Brigade (FB) padlock and why would I need one?

FB padlocks (FB1 and FB14 are the two options here) are a standard lock system used by UK fire and rescue services, so they can remove the post with their own key in an emergency without cutting it off. Choose this option if the site needs guaranteed emergency access.

What's the difference between the FB1 and FB14 padlock?

FB1 is a grey 2 inch padlock, FB14 is a yellow 2 1/2 inch padlock. Both are fitted with a key at order - check with your local fire service or site specification for which one is required.

Which diameter should I choose - 60mm, 76mm or 90mm?

All three stand 900mm above ground; the larger diameters simply give a sturdier, harder-to-force post. Pick 60mm for standard car park use, 76mm or 90mm where the post takes more knocks or needs a stronger visual deterrent.

How much does the ground socket disturb the surface?

The lockable steel ground socket needs a 220mm depth below ground - shallow enough for most tarmac or concrete surfaces without major groundworks.

Can I match the post to our site colours?

Yes. As well as the standard galvanised finish, it's available colour-coated in black or yellow, or in a bespoke RAL colour to match a corporate scheme or existing signage - just state the RAL code when ordering.

Can it be used alongside fixed bollards?

Yes - it's often installed alongside fixed bollards as part of a wider access control scheme, giving controlled vehicle access with guaranteed Fire Brigade access where a permanent bollard would block it entirely.

Where is it manufactured?

In the UK, from galvanised mild steel.
