Frequently asked questions

What is the blue cone used for?

Blue traffic cones are used on the highways network as a hazard warning, most often fitted with a Danger Overhead Cables or Danger Overhead Structure sleeve to warn workers and drivers of overhead risks.

What sleeve options are available?

Three: a standard reflective sleeve held in stock, plus Danger Overhead Cable and Danger Overhead Structure sleeves made to order on a 3-5 working day lead time.

Does it meet UK traffic standards?

Yes. The cone conforms to BS EN 13422:2019 and is referenced in Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual, The Red Book 2013 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions.

How heavy is it and can one person move it?

Each cone weighs around 4kg with a moulded grip handle, so it is a single-person lift. The cones also stack for carrying several at once.

What is the cone made from?

The cone body is blow-moulded HDPE and the base is fully recycled PVC. Both parts are recyclable at end of life.

How many fit on a pallet?

We recommend a maximum of 175 cones per pallet. They can be stacked higher for storage.

Can the cone be customised?

Yes, for larger orders. Options include cone and base embossing, a base colour change, and sticker or printed sleeves. Ask about trade-account pricing.
