Frequently asked questions

Which outlet size should I choose - 1" or 2" BSP?

Pick 1" BSP for typical garden hose or small pump connections, or 2" BSP where you need faster flow, such as gravity-fed systems or larger pumps. You can also order the tank with no outlet fitted if you plan to fit your own.

Do I need the shut-off valve option?

The 1" shut-off valve lets you stop flow at the outlet without disconnecting pipework, useful for maintenance or switching between uses. It's optional - leave it off if your setup already has one.

What does the float valve & float do?

It automatically shuts off an incoming water supply once the tank reaches a set level, useful for mains top-up or automated filling. Choose 1/2", 3/4" or 1" to match your supply pipe.

How much does the tank weigh empty?

The empty tank weighs 40kg. Two people are recommended for lifting and positioning it before connecting any pipework.

Will it crack in cold weather?

No. The MDPE body is UV-stabilised and frost-resistant, so it can stay outdoors through a UK winter without cracking.

Can I use it indoors as well as outdoors?

Yes, the tank is suitable for both internal and external installation.

How do I access the tank for cleaning or a pump?

The 500mm hinged lid on top gives full access for cleaning, inspection or fitting a submersible pump.
