Why it works

Why use a galvanising spray

Corrosion protection

Restores the anti-corrosion protection lost when galvanised steel is welded or cut.

Fast touch-dry

Dries to touch in 20-30 minutes, so repaired sections can be handled and moved on sooner.

Strong adhesion and filling

Formulated for good adhesion and filling on bare or welded metal, not just a cosmetic finish.

Colour-matched finish

Silver finish close to the original galvanised look, so a repair does not stand out.
Overview

Silver Zinc Galvanising Spray - Overview

Welding or cutting galvanised steel burns the zinc coating off the joint and leaves bare metal exposed to rust. This spray restores that protection: a zinc-rich coating for untreated and welded metal, touch dry in 20-30 minutes, giving the corrosion protection the original galvanising provided. It also works as a touch-up on galvanised surfaces that have been marred or damaged, for example around welds and cut edges.

Frequently asked questions

What is it used for?

Restoring corrosion protection to untreated or welded metal, and touching up galvanised steel that has been marred or damaged, for example around welds and cut edges.

How long does it take to dry?

Touch dry in 20-30 minutes. Leave it longer before handling if you can, especially in cold or damp conditions.

Will it match the original galvanising?

It gives a close silver-grey match to hot-dip galvanising, so a repaired weld or touch-up blends in rather than standing out. It's a coating, not a hot-dip process, so it does not replicate the metallurgical bond of factory galvanising.

What surfaces can I use it on?

Untreated and welded steel and iron, and marred or damaged areas on already-galvanised surfaces - piping, ducting, tanks, and automotive or marine metalwork are typical uses.

How should I prepare the surface first?

Clean back to sound metal, remove any light rust, and make sure it is dry and free of oil or grease before spraying.

Can I use it over old paint or existing galvanising?

It's designed for bare, welded or marred metal rather than as a topcoat over other paint systems - if you're covering an existing painted finish, check compatibility first.

How big is the can?

500ml, in a standard aerosol can 65mm in diameter and 240mm tall.
