Frequently asked questions

How is Diversion Ahead different from a Diverted Traffic sign?

Diversion Ahead goes out before the diversion starts, warning drivers that they are about to leave the normal route. The Diverted Traffic arrow signs then carry them through the route itself. Most schemes use this sign on the approach and arrows from the first turn onwards.

Do I need ballast with this sign?

In anything more than light wind, yes. The Q-Sign has been wind-tested with the appropriate ballast weightings - ready filled sand bags or a dedicated sign ballast weight both work. Both are available from us as add-ons.

What is the frame made of, and will it rust?

The A-frame is fully recycled polypropylene with no metal parts, so there is nothing to rust and nothing worth stealing for scrap. It can stay out on site overnight in all weathers.

Is it legal to use on the public highway?

The sign conforms to BS 8442:2015 and is built for Chapter 8 and Red Book 2013 schemes, so it is suitable for UK road use when set out in line with the Safety at Street Works and Road Works code of practice.

How much space does it take to store or transport?

The frame folds completely flat to 60mm deep and the signs stack, so they palletise at 30 units per pallet. Folded size is 1080mm tall by 1070mm wide.

Can one person carry and set it up?

Yes. It weighs 9.8kg, has no sharp edges and the retractable stand is built in, so one person can carry it from the van and stand it up in seconds.

Can I get the same frame with different wording?

Yes - the 1050 x 750mm frame takes bespoke vinyl sign faces, so we can supply the legend your scheme needs. Get in touch with the wording and we will quote.
