Three formats of the same sign

At 1050 x 750mm the same legend is sold in three formats, and the site decides which one you want:

• Plastic Q-sign: lightweight, set out and picked up by hand, and held down with a Road Q-Sign ballast weight where it is exposed to wind.
• Hangman (double cone): the sign hangs between two traffic cones, so there is no frame or ballast to carry and the signs store flat in the van.
• Metal sign face: a plate that goes into a temporary metal road sign frame. The frame stays out for the length of the job and faces are swapped as the works move on, which is the cheaper way to run a long scheme. The full face range is in 1050 x 750mm sign faces.

What the legends cover

Signal control: Traffic Control Ahead, Traffic Under Signal Control, Joining Traffic Not Signal Controlled, When Red Light Shows Wait Here, When Stop Sign Shows Wait Here, 3 Way Control and Priority Over Oncoming Vehicles. A signal-controlled job normally needs three of these at once: advance warning of the control, the stop instruction at the light, and a sign for traffic joining from a side road.

Diversions and closures: the 2702 family - Diversion, Diversion Ahead (2702b) and Diversion END - plus Road Closed, Road Ahead Closed Access Only, Access Only (7000b), Access To Frontages Only, No Through Road, Site Access and Caution Site Entrance. A diversion needs an arrow face at every turn and an END face where the route rejoins.

Surface and layout: Temporary Road Surface, Raised Ironworks, New Road Layout Ahead, Caution New Road Markings, No Road Markings, Ramp Ahead, Reduce Speed Now and 30mph Road (670).
