Frequently asked questions

Why put out an apology sign at all?

Location filming works best when the public know what is going on - this sign explains the disruption in one line and keeps residents and drivers onside while the crew works.

Is the frame road-legal?

Yes - the Q-Sign conforms to BS 8442:2015, Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the Red Book 2013 when set up to the code of practice.

How does it stand up on a pavement or verge?

The A-frame is free-standing on its built-in retractable stand; in exposed or windy spots add ready-filled sand bags or a sign ballast weight - we supply both.

Can one crew member put it out?

Yes - 9.8kg is a single-person lift and there are no sharp edges, so it goes from the van to standing in under a minute.

What happens to them between shoots?

The frames fold flat to 60mm and stack - 30 to a single pallet - so a set of them stores in a corner of the unit truck.

Will it survive being left outside?

Yes - 100% polypropylene with no metal parts, so it does not rust, is non-conductive to lightning and has no scrap value to attract thieves.

Can we put the production's own wording on it?

Yes - the same frame takes bespoke vinyl faces, so send us the wording or artwork the production needs.
