Frequently asked questions

What does the upwards arrow mean on this sign?

It shows that the fire hose reel is straight ahead on the current route, rather than a turn to the left or right - useful at the start of a corridor or above a reel itself.

What sizes does it come in?

300mm x 100mm for close-range viewing such as a corridor, or 450mm x 150mm where people will read it from further away, such as across a warehouse floor.

Which material should I choose for an outdoor location?

Vinyl composite is the toughest option outside, and foam PVC or rigid PVC also hold up well. Self-adhesive vinyl is best kept indoors or somewhere sheltered.

Is any fixing hardware included?

Self-adhesive vinyl comes with its own high-tack backing. Rigid PVC, foam PVC and photoluminescent PVC fix through drill holes, and vinyl composite adds a horizontal or vertical channel for post or bar mounting.

Why would I need the photoluminescent version?

It charges under normal lighting and glows in the dark, so the sign stays visible if the power fails during an emergency.

Do I still need left or right arrow signs as well?

Often yes - this upwards version marks a straight stretch of the route, while left and right arrow signs cover the points where it changes direction.

Can this be fixed to a post or barrier rather than a wall?

Yes - the vinyl composite version has a horizontal or vertical channel built in, for mounting to posts or bars such as car park barriers or gates.
