Frequently asked questions

What does the 55mm x 55mm measurement mean?

It is the profile size. The nosing has two 55mm faces that wrap over the front edge of the step, covering the top of the tread and the front of the riser.

How do I fix the nosing to the steps?

You can screw it down or bond it with adhesive. As a guide, allow five fixings per linear metre for screwing, or about 60ml of adhesive per linear metre for bonding. Countersunk screws and GRP adhesive are sold separately.

Can it be cut to length?

Yes. Order the nearest length at or above what you need and cut it to fit. The cutting tolerance is +/- 3mm.

What surfaces can it be fitted to?

Concrete, metal and timber steps, indoors or outdoors. The fibreglass resists frost, moisture and UV, so it is suitable for external stairways and fire escapes.

What colours are available?

Yellow, black, white, and black and yellow hazard stripe. Yellow and the hazard stripe are the most visible options for marking a step edge.

Is it suitable for wet or greasy areas?

Yes. The gritted surface is tested to BS 7976-2 and rated slip resistant to level 3 across dry, wet, oily and greasy conditions.

Do you offer custom colours or larger quantities?
