Frequently asked questions

How does the 168mm diameter compare to the rest of the GFC ornamental range?

The GFC6000 is the widest bollard in the GFC ornamental range at 168mm diameter, versus 114mm for most of the other GFC models. It gives a heavier, more substantial look, suited to prestige entrances and larger public realm schemes.

Is the removable version secure when it's not in use?

Yes. The removable version sits in a socket 300mm below ground and is secured with a padlock, so it can be lifted out for vehicle access and locked back down when not needed.

What's involved in fitting the bolt-down version?

The bolt-down base fixes with 4 x M16 expanding bolts, which are not included and need to be sourced separately. It's a straightforward surface fix where digging a footing isn't practical.

Can it be reinforced for extra strength?

Concrete-in versions can be reinforced with an internal steel core, a concrete fill, or both, for sites that need extra impact resistance beyond the standard fixing.

What colour options are available?

Galvanised is the standard finish. If you need a specific colour, the bollard can also be supplied galvanised and powder-coated - just provide the RAL number you want to match.

Can I add chains between bollards?

Yes, optional eyelets and hooks are available so bollards can be linked with a decorative chain - useful where you want to define a boundary without a solid barrier.

Is this bollard suitable for heritage or conservation areas?

Its cast iron cap and rings and traditional profile make it a common choice for historic town centres and conservation areas where a more ornamental look is wanted over a plain utility bollard.
