Frequently asked questions
How much weight can I expect to lift when moving the TBC5 empty?
How much weight can I expect to lift when moving the TBC5 empty?
The empty chest weighs 153kg, so it needs two people or mechanical handling to move - the steel grip handles are there to help with a controlled lift, not a solo carry.
Can I fit more than one shelf inside?
Can I fit more than one shelf inside?
Yes, the TBC5 accepts up to two shelves, including a powerbank version with USB and socket outlets - both are sold separately so you can configure the space to suit.
Does the lid stay open on its own while I'm loading tools?
Does the lid stay open on its own while I'm loading tools?
Yes, gas struts hold the lid open once you lift it, and a lid stay keeps it in position so you don't need to prop it.
How is the chest locked?
How is the chest locked?
Two 5-lever deadlocks secure the lid and door, backed by internal and external anti-jemmy plates and a concealed split piano hinge, so there's no exposed pin to attack.
Can I charge tools while the chest is shut?
Can I charge tools while the chest is shut?
Yes, a cable pass-through lets you run leads through to a charger or transformer inside without leaving the lid open.
Is the chest bolted down or can it be moved between sites?
Is the chest bolted down or can it be moved between sites?
It's built as a fixed or semi-permanent site store rather than a daily-move van box - use the certified lifting eye kit (sold separately) if you need to crane or forklift it between locations.
