Frequently asked questions

When should I use a 2-lane wicket sign?

It is designed for sections of road with two lanes where one lane needs to be closed. For placement and spacing, follow the government guidance for temporary traffic management (Chapter 8 and The Red Book).

How does the blanking plate work?

The sign face includes a blanking plate used to indicate which lane is closed, so one face covers a closure of either lane. Set it to match the lane you are closing before the sign goes out.

What do I need to display the sign face?

A quick-fit sign frame, sold separately. The face is drilled at 300mm hole centres, so check they match your frames. A temporary sign ballast weight helps keep the frame in place.

What size is the sign face?

900mm long by 800mm high on a 3mm plastic backing, drilled at 300mm hole centres.

Is it suitable for high-speed roads?

The face uses RA1 (Class 1) reflective sheeting, which is intended for lower-speed roads such as urban streets, residential areas and city centres. If your scheme needs a different specification, contact our sales team.

Why choose a plastic sign face over metal?

The 3mm plastic backing is light to handle and has no scrap value, so it is far less attractive to thieves than a metal sign.

Can I order it in a different material or with other hole centres?

Yes - faces can be supplied in GRP, composite, aluminium or plastic, with 300mm, 450mm, 750mm or 900mm fixing centres. Email sales@streetsolutionsuk.com with your requirement.
