Frequently asked questions

What does the 550.1 sign warn drivers about?
It warns that ridden horses may be using or crossing the road ahead, so drivers should slow down and pass wide and slow.

Where would I typically install this sign?
On rural roads and lanes near bridleways, stables or riding schools, or on any route regularly used by riders.

What's the difference between the post and wall mounted versions?
The post version has rear channels and anti-rotational clips that clamp onto a post so it can't twist; the wall version is a flat, undrilled face for screw or adhesive fixing.

Does it include a post?
No - the sign face only. 76mm galvanised posts and clips are sold separately, two clips per sign.

Is it approved for public roads?
Yes, it's CE marked to BS EN 12899-1:2007 and made to UK highway regulations.

What size should I pick?
450mm, 600mm or 750mm - choose a larger size where approach speeds are higher.

How long is the lead time?
These sign faces run a 7-10 working day lead time.
