To create a one-way system, diagram 615 - "Priority Vehicles from Other Direction" can be used to indicate priority for oncoming traffic, or diagram 811 - "Priority Over Oncoming Traffic" can be used to give priority over oncoming traffic
This sign is commonly used on play or shopping streets that are closed to vehicles and cycles. It should always be used with a supplementary sign and must be used when the prohibition applies to both directions
It is unusual for the sign to show only "No Vehicles"; this is only appropriate when there is no access at all times, such as on a public footpath or wide footbridge that is wide enough for emergency vehicles
If the total ban applies only during certain times of day, a time period should be added to the supplementary plate
