Ready-mixed anti slip floor paint comes in four colours. If the area that needs grip happens to be blue, green or black, or if it needs to match a scheme already down, the additive is the answer: mix it into the colour you actually want and you get the same textured surface. It also gives you control over how coarse the finish is, which the ready-mixed version does not - useful where a floor needs grip but also has to be cleanable.

How much do I need?
The stated minimum is 300g per square metre. Below that the grit is spread too thinly to give consistent grip and you get patches of texture rather than a surface. Work out your floor area first, then the paint, then the grit.

If your colour is grey, red, yellow or white, that is usually simpler. The additive earns its place when you need grip in a colour that is not stocked ready-mixed, when you are matching an existing scheme, or when you want to control how coarse the finish is.

The grit itself is clear, so it is the texture that changes rather than the colour. A textured surface does scatter light differently from a smooth one, so expect the finish to look slightly less glossy.

Yes, grit settles. Stir it back through regularly as you go, or the last part of the floor will have noticeably less grip than the first.

That depends on the paint you mix it into rather than on the grit. Check the paint is rated for the surface and exposure first - the industrial floor paints in this range are not suitable for external slabs without a waterproof membrane.
