Frequently asked questions

What does the arrow on this sign indicate?

The upward arrow shows that the firefighting equipment is straight ahead or above the sign's position, guiding people directly to it in an emergency.

What size do I need?

300mm x 100mm suits standard corridor and doorway fixing at close range. Choose 450mm x 150mm for longer corridors or where the sign needs to be read from further away.

Which material holds up best outdoors?

Rigid PVC, foam PVC and polycarbonate are all suitable for exterior fixing. Polycarbonate is the toughest of the three and is also available with channel fixings for posts and barriers.

What's the difference between drill-fix and channel fixing?

Drill-fix uses four holes to bolt the sign to a flat surface. Horizontal channel fixing is for mounting on vertical posts, and vertical channel fixing is for mounting on horizontal bars such as gates or car park barriers.

Will the sign stay visible if the power goes out?

Choose the photoluminescent version - it absorbs ambient light and continues to glow for a period after the lights go out, keeping the direction to the equipment visible.

Can this sign be fitted to a car park barrier or gate?

Yes - order it with vertical channel fixing, which clips onto a horizontal bar such as a car park barrier or gate rail.

Is the sign pre-printed or do I need to add wording myself?

It's pre-printed with the wording, helmet and flame pictogram and arrow already in place - no extra labelling is needed on site.
