Frequently asked questions

What sizes does the Fire Telephone sign come in?

It is available in three widths - 150mm, 200mm or 300mm - and three heights - 200mm, 300mm or 400mm - so you can match the sign to the wall, post or door it is going on.

Which material should I choose?

Self-adhesive vinyl and vinyl composite suit smooth, clean surfaces and are quick to apply. Rigid or foam PVC give a more permanent fixed sign, and photoluminescent PVC stays visible if the lights go out.

How do I fix the sign in place?

Choose drill holes or self-adhesive backing for a flat wall, a horizontal channel for fixing to one or more posts, or a vertical channel for horizontal bars such as gates or car park barriers.

Is the sign suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. All five material options are rated for both indoor and outdoor fitting.

What does the pictogram show?

A telephone handset next to flames, with "Fire telephone" text underneath, in white on a red background.

Can I fit this sign to a post or gate?

Yes, if you choose the horizontal or vertical channel fixing option, which is designed for posts, bars and gates rather than a flat wall.

Do I need a Fire Telephone sign in my building?

If your building has a dedicated fire telephone point, a clearly marked sign helps staff and visitors find it quickly in an emergency - check with your fire safety adviser for what your building needs.
