Frequently asked questions

What does 'for use on any fire' mean?

It confirms that the fire extinguisher or firefighting equipment sited nearby is suitable for tackling more than one class of fire, so staff can identify the right equipment without checking the extinguisher label first.

What sizes are available?

100mm x 100mm and 200mm x 200mm squares. Choose the smaller size for close fixing next to equipment, and the larger size where it needs to be seen from further away.

Which material should I choose?

Self-adhesive vinyl and rigid PVC suit most indoor and outdoor walls. Foam PVC is lightweight, vinyl composite is fully waterproof, and photoluminescent PVC charges in ambient light so it stays visible if the power goes out.

How is it fixed to the wall?

Self-adhesive vinyl sticks directly to a flat surface. The other materials are supplied with drill holes, or as a horizontal or vertical channel for fixing to posts, barriers or gates.

Can I mount this on a post or barrier?

Yes. The 200mm vinyl composite option is available with a horizontal or vertical channel, designed for fixing to single or multiple posts, or to horizontal bars such as car park barriers and gates.

Does this sign replace the equipment's own instructions?

No. It marks that the equipment nearby suits any class of fire; always follow the extinguisher's own label and your site's fire safety procedures before use.

Is this sign suitable for outdoor use?

Rigid PVC, foam PVC and vinyl composite are all suitable for exterior fixing as well as indoor use.
