Frequently asked questions
Why does a fire door need to stay closed?
Why does a fire door need to stay closed?
A closed fire door maintains the fire-resistant seal between compartments, slowing the spread of fire and smoke - propping it open removes that protection even for a few minutes.
Can I use this alongside a door that already has a self-closer fitted?
Can I use this alongside a door that already has a self-closer fitted?
Yes - the sign is a visual reminder alongside a self-closer, useful where the device can be disabled or the door is occasionally propped open for deliveries.
What sizes does it come in?
What sizes does it come in?
150mm x 200mm, 200mm x 300mm and 300mm x 400mm, each available in the same five materials and fixing options.
Which material suits a commercial kitchen door?
Which material suits a commercial kitchen door?
Vinyl composite or foam PVC cope well with the heat, grease and regular cleaning of a kitchen fire door; self-adhesive vinyl is better kept to a drier area.
Can I fix it to a metal door frame or a gate rather than the door face?
Can I fix it to a metal door frame or a gate rather than the door face?
Yes - every size is available in Vinyl Composite with a horizontal or vertical channel fixing, suited to frames, posts and gates as well as flat drill-fix mounting.
Is the photoluminescent version worth it for an internal fire door?
Is the photoluminescent version worth it for an internal fire door?
It charges under normal lighting and stays visible if the power fails, useful on doors along an escape route used during an evacuation.
How is this different from a Keep Locked sign?
How is this different from a Keep Locked sign?
This sign asks people to close the door after use to preserve fire separation; a Keep Locked sign is about restricting access, not fire compartmentation.
