Why a survey spray rather than a line marker
Narrow spray for writing
A tight spray pattern is what lets you put readable characters, arrows and dimensions on the ground instead of a fat unreadable line.

Setting out on tarmac is where white earns its place. Against a black surface nothing else reads as cleanly, and a chainage or a level written in white on a road can be picked up at a glance and from a distance. On light concrete it is the wrong choice and yellow does the job better, so most site teams end up carrying both rather than one.

The spray pattern. Survey spray is narrow, for writing characters, arrows and dimensions that need to be read. Site marker and line marker have a wider pattern for lines and areas. If you are annotating the ground, use this. If you are drawing lines and bays, use those.
