Why it works

What it is for

Satin finish

An acrylic satin that goes on evenly from the can rather than needing a gun and a compressor.

Sticks to more than steel

Wood, MDF, ceramic and paint-prepared plastics as well as metalwork, so one can covers most of what a workshop touches up.

Indoor and outdoor

Rated for exterior use, so gates, railings and vehicle work are all in scope.

Quick drying

Fast enough to get a second coat on and the item back in service the same day.
Overview

The finish between matt and gloss

Satin is the finish most people actually want and fewest people ask for. Gloss is hard-wearing and easy to clean but unforgiving on a surface that is not perfectly flat. Matt is forgiving but marks and scuffs more easily and is harder to wipe down. Satin gives you most of the durability with most of the forgiveness, which is why it is the usual choice on interior metalwork, furniture and joinery that gets handled.

Frequently asked questions

What surfaces will it go on?

Metal, wood, MDF, ceramic and paint-prepared plastics. Whatever the surface, it needs to be clean, dry and free of loose material first, and bare steel should be primed.

Can it be used outside?

Yes, it is rated for interior and exterior use. Spray in dry conditions and give it time to dry before it takes any weather.

How much will one can cover?

That depends on the colour, the surface and how heavily you spray. Porous surfaces such as bare MDF drink far more than primed steel. For a job of any size, buy a can more than you think you need rather than running out part way.

How big is the can?

500ml, 65mm across and 240mm tall, at 0.4kg.

What RAL is the satin black?

No RAL is published for the satin black. The gloss black in this range is RAL 9005, but a RAL does not carry across finishes, so if you need a matched satin ask us and we will check with the supplier.

Should I use satin or gloss?

Gloss where it needs to be wiped down hard and the surface is flat and sound - gates, railings, chassis. Satin where the item gets handled but you do not want every dent and ripple picked out, such as interior metalwork, furniture and joinery.
