Why do I need a slipping clutch on the drill?
A slipping clutch protects the drill and the core if the bit binds mid-cut. Mexco specifies a minimum 850W drill motor fitted with one for this kit.

What's the pilot drill for?
The 10mm x 175mm A-taper pilot drill centres each core so the hole starts accurately, especially useful on hard or glazed surfaces.

Can I use this on sandstone or slate?
Yes, the kit is rated for hard and coarse sandstone and soft slate, alongside brick, concrete block, breeze block and Lignacite block.

How do the cores connect to the adaptors?
Each core has a ½" BSP female connection, matching the SDS and hex adaptors supplied in the case.

Is this a wet or dry coring kit?
Dry. All three XCEL-grade cores are designed to cut without water, using slotted and fluted barrels to clear dust and manage heat.

What comes in the case besides the three cores?
Four adaptors (80mm and 250mm SDS and hex), a 10mm x 175mm A-taper pilot drill and a drift key, all in a fitted aluminium carry case.
