Warns before the bump

The 1050 x 750mm face gives drivers clear warning of raised ironworks before they reach them.

Street works ready

Conforms to BS 8442:2015, the Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual and the Red Book 2013.

No tools, no fixings

The retractable stand opens to a free-standing A-frame in seconds and folds back flat to 60mm.

Recycled, not rusting

Fully recycled polypropylene with no metal parts - it can live outside without corroding or attracting scrap thieves.

Weathers the works

Rain, frost and site knocks do not bother the moulded frame, so it lasts scheme after scheme.
Overview

Raised Ironworks 1050x750mm Q-Sign - Overview

The Raised Ironworks Q-Sign is a wide-format 1050 x 750mm warning sign for road works where manhole covers, gully gratings and other ironworks stand proud of the carriageway - most often after resurfacing or planing, before the ironworks are reinstated to the new road level. Free-standing on the Melba Swintex A-frame and moulded in fully recycled polypropylene, it goes out with the crew and folds flat for the van at the end of the shift.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Raised Ironworks sign warn drivers about?

It warns that manhole covers, gully gratings or other ironworks are standing proud of the road surface ahead - a common condition straight after resurfacing or planing, before the ironworks are brought up to the new road level.

How long do I need to display it for?

For as long as the ironworks remain higher or lower than the surrounding surface - typically between the resurfacing pass and the follow-up works that reinstate covers to the new level.

Is it stable on a live carriageway?

The Q-Sign range is wind-tested with the appropriate ballast weightings. For exposed roads we supply ready-filled sandbags to add to the frame.

What is the frame made of?

Fully recycled polypropylene in black. There are no metal parts, so it does not rust and it is non-conductive.

How does it pack down between jobs?

The stand retracts and the sign folds flat to 60mm deep. Signs stack on top of each other, with 30 to a pallet.

Can one operative handle it?

Yes. At 9.8kg it is a single-person lift, and there are no sharp edges to catch hands or clothing.

Does it meet Chapter 8?

It conforms to BS 8442:2015, the Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual, The Red Book 2013 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions.
