Why it works

Why lay this warning tape

Highly visible

Bright yellow film with bold black print stands out clearly the moment a trench is reopened.

Clear high-voltage warning

Printed CAUTION HIGH VOLTAGE along the full length gives an unmistakable warning before anyone digs into a live cable route.

Full-length roll

Each roll runs 365m, enough to mark long cable runs without joining multiple rolls together.

Simple to lay

Rolls out by hand directly into the backfill, no tools or fixings needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tape include a built-in trace wire for cable locators?

No, this is a standard warning tape without a detection wire. If you need a tape that shows up on a locator, ask us about our detectable underground tape range instead.

What depth should this tape be buried at?

Lay it in the backfill above the cable, ahead of the final surface layer, so it's the first thing found if the ground is reopened. Follow the depth set out in your project drawings or the network operator's own specification.

Why does the tape specifically say CAUTION HIGH VOLTAGE rather than a generic cable warning?

A high-voltage cable carries a greater risk of serious injury than a standard supply cable, so the print gives anyone digging a clear, specific reason to stop and check before going further.

Is it still risky to use a mechanical excavator once this tape is found?

Yes. Once the tape is exposed, switch to careful hand digging rather than continuing with plant, and follow your site's safe digging practice near live high-voltage assets.

Is one 365m roll enough to cover a typical cable route?

Most single cable runs are covered by one roll, since it runs the full 365m without a join. For longer routes you'll need more than one roll.

What is the tape made from?

LDPE (low-density polyethylene) film, chosen for its strength and tear resistance when pulled from the roll and laid in a trench.

Can this tape be used to mark cables that aren't high voltage?

It can, but the CAUTION HIGH VOLTAGE print is specific to that hazard, so for other cable types we'd recommend the matching tape from our range instead, to avoid a misleading warning.
