The Heavy Duty Flow Plate is a surface-fixed, one-way traffic control plate for roads, yards and access routes. Built from 10mm heavy gauge chequer steel with a spring-action hinge, the reduced flap height rates it for HGVs as well as cars.

How many plates do I need for my road width?
It depends on the width you are covering - as a guide, a 3m road needs 5 plates and a 5m road needs 8 plates. See the coverage table on this page for other widths.

Can it be fitted to tarmac and concrete?
Yes. Tarmac fitting uses rubber expanding bolts once the surface is at least 6 months old with 50mm of asphalt depth. On newly laid tarmac, or where the surface is unsuitable, a concrete raft should be laid first.

Should the plates be laid out in a straight line?
We recommend a staggered layout rather than one straight line - this spreads vehicle loading more evenly and extends the life of the plates. Vehicles should drive straight over the plates rather than turning on them.

Pedestrian use is not recommended without additional warning signage - keep vehicle approaches straight and direct pedestrians away from the plate edges.
